Pringles Minis BBQ Review
When it comes to accidentally vegan snacks, Pringles have always been a bit of a go-to for vegans.
Instant hats off to Pringles for their clearly labelled vegan options like Original, Salt & Vinegar, BBQ and many more flavours - they’ve made it pretty easy for vegans at the supermarket to know what they can grab off the shelf.
Now, with the release of the Pringles Minis BBQ flavour, the big question is:
Do these live up to the classic Pringles flavour, and are they worth picking up?
Are Pringles Minis BBQ Vegan in Australia?
One thing Pringles actually does really well is clear vegan labelling on the packaging, which makes life so much easier when you’re shopping. The Pringles Minis BBQ flavour is no different with a big tick for vegan-friendly clearly marked on the back of the packaging.
This BBQ flavour joins the existing vegan-friendly options from Pringles such as:
Pringles Original
Pringles Salt & Vinegar
Pringles BBQ
Pringles Minis Original
Pringles Minis Salt & Vinegar
This is not to mention the great flavour combination that have sadly come and gone as well - the Pringles Veggie Creations range was one of my favs!
Add the new Pringles Minis BBQ to this list and it makes for another easy grab if you’re after a quick snack.
Taste Test – Pringles Minis BBQ
Flavour
If you’ve had BBQ Pringles before, you’ll know what you’re getting here. That classic smoky, slightly sweet BBQ flavour is front and centre, and it’s exactly what you’d expect. No surprises. It’s bold enough to be enjoyable, but not so strong that it becomes too much after a few handfuls.
Texture
Texture is where Pringles always deliver. That thin, crispy crunch is still there, even in the mini format, and honestly, the smaller size makes them even easier to snack on and devour.
Convenience Factor
This is probably where these Pringles Minis really shine with their 5 smaller 19g packets.
The mini packs are perfect for lunchboxes, car snacks, or quick grabs on the go, which makes them super practical for families, and good for portion control - because there’s been a few occasions for me where I could easily smash a whole tube of the regular Pringles!
Value & Price
At $4 for 5 19g packets, you’re paying more for convenience than anything else. These are priced at about $4.21 for 100g.
When you compare these to the standard Pringles which are currently $5.50 for 134g (roughly $4.10 for 100g), there isn’t a huge difference in price between the two.
But there’s a few wins, such as:
Portion control
Convenience
A smaller, snack friendly size
Is this alone worth it though?
Final Thoughts – Should You Try Pringles Minis BBQ?
At the end of the day, the Pringles Minis BBQ flavour are pretty much identical to the regular Pringles BBQ. The flavour is exactly the same, however the smaller chip size and portioned packets does make life a bit easier than lugging around that bigger Pringles tube.
If you already enjoy Pringles, this is a pretty safe bet.
They’re:
Familiar
Convenient
Easy to throw into lunchboxes
Not groundbreaking, but definitely reliable.
Besides everything already mentioned, what I do like about these is that the price works out to be pretty identical to the larger Pringles. Many brands normally charge through the roof for convenience, but with only a 11c differences per 100g between the two, the Minis end up being a great choice depending on your situation.
This works out to be especially useful for this parent who has multiple sports practices and back-to-back kid’s sports games each week and needs convenience and snacks that fit in sports bags.
